Review (by Malcolm Storey) | One of the best pocket guides covering wild flowers, grasses, sedges, ferns and trees, but not for the complete beginner. Assuming you can find the appropriate family, the helpful headings in the text (in conjunction with Marjorie Blamey’s excellent paintings) will lead you to the right plant. The book contains a good range of species, with useful sections at the end on the specialities of Ireland, and West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and even extinct species which might turn up again. |
