Review (by Malcolm Storey) | Water squeezed out of a clump of Sphagnum is of lower pH than the surrounding water because Sphagnum exchanges H+ ions for K+, Mg++ etc, rather than the usual myth that Sphagna need acid water so they make it more acid to suit their preferences. |
