Notes:
Numerous mines, often 10 per leaf, and often colliding. Many aborted small mines. Throughout the whole canopy.
Mine most evident from upper surface of leaf. Egg on upper leaf surface from which mine sets off and then often returns (false start) to make a tiny black blotch at the start before setting off in a different direction. Early mine narrow, punctate black frass-filled, linear, sinuous, with narrow golden border and some fading of adjacent leaf pigment. Mid-section mine broader and paler, more irregular in outline. Final section pale with terminal emergence flap on upper surface.
Mine less clearly visible from lower surface where it is hidden by curly tomentum.
