Notes:

Frothy exudates from centre of Ragwort capitula. Capitulum quite woody, with large larva in central cavity, head downwards, presumably feeding on sap.

The larva was surprisingly active for such a restricted home. Larvae left capitula and pupariated in bottom of tube c. 18 Aug 07.

Adult flies noted 1 June 08.

Presumably Botanophila seneciella or B. jacobaeae.
