Notes:
Cap: deep yellow-ochre (BFF Saffron to Russula H). Cuticle easily peeling and turning red-brown with KOH. Flesh hardly changing with KOH.
Gills: lilac at first.
Stipe whitish to pale straw, marginate bulbous, base with yellow mycelial strands; flesh: whitish. Basal bulb not changing or weakly brownish with KOH.
Smell: earthy.
Spore print: BFF: rusty tawny
Spores: amygdaliform-subcitriform, rough on outline, and with surface warts, 8-10(11)/5-6µm.
