Notes:
Cap sticky, dirty whitish with pale buff areas, young with distinct lilaceous-bluish tinge which doesn’t photograph well. Cuticle thick, easily peeled off, bright red with KOH.
Stipe: white tinged vinaceous grey bruising "vinaceous grey" by collapse of tomentum. Tapering upwards from large, marginate basal bulb which is whiter than stipe and often patchily pale buff; bulb but not stipe basal bulb strongly bright purple with KOH.
Flesh: strongly lilac in stem cortex, unchanged (very pale orange) with KOH.
Veil white.
Gills: lilac at first, crowded.
Taste: mild. Cuticle: mild.
Spore print: slightly dark BFF:fulvous
This differs from typical C. calochrous var. parvus in the blue stipe flesh and faint blue cap tinges. This became more evident as time passed and after 4 days a cap left lying around after giving spore prints was as blue as Inocybe geophylla.
Spores: amygdaliform, very slightly rough on outline under x100 obj, 8-10/5-5.5µm
