Notes:
Collected as a pollen sample from anthers of Field Bindweed, Convolvulus arvensis.
Conidia 9-13(16)/4.5-5(6)µm, with marked attachment scar, not staining at all well in Safranin (while I thought they were pollen!), but staining normally for fungus spores in Lactophenol Cotton Blue.
The sample was collected in the early evening from several flowers found in a small area. There was no pollen, only smut spores. It appears that infected flowers remain open after uninfected flowers have closed for the night.
