Notes:

The sleeper had been part of a flight of garden steps, but was removed during renovation on the 24th/25th. The half-rotten sleeper was left lying on the lawn in its orginal orientation. When it was lifted on the 28th, there was a single large larva at the end of a tunnel in the surface of the ground beneath the rotten wood. There was a matching mass of packed frass on the underside of the wood.

A second large larva was found shallowly buried in the lawn nearby.
