Review (by Malcolm Storey)

A group of genera from the section of Cortinariaceae with rust-coloured spore print, but excluding Cortinarius, and the genera with thin-walled spores: Tubaria and Flammulaster. Most of the genera have only one or a few species (and are rare), except Galerina and Gymnopilus whose members will be more familiar.

Keys to genera and then species within genera, with lengthy species descriptions. The work adopts a narrow species concept in Galerina and Gymnopilus.

An Ecological List of Species groups them by habitat.

Errata, Corrigenda & CommentsCouplet 8 in the *Galerina* key should include 43 *autumnalis* - this is easiest accomplished by going to couplet 40.
Examine Compound Microscope
Specimen PreparationSpore prints, and microscopy of spores, cystidia, cutis etc.
Identification difficultyMostly straightforward although some Galerina and Gynopilus need care.
