Review (by Malcolm Storey) | Each species of saproxylic beetle is given a score from 0 to 3. The IEC sums the scores of the species found at a site to arrive at a total score for the whole site. Sites with larger scores have been continuously wooded for longer than those with smaller scores. Sites scoring at least 80 are deemed to be of international importance, 25 or more for national importance and 15 or more for regional importance. |
