Reviews the influences of atmospheric pollution on ectomycorrhizal fungi.

Nitrogen in NPK fertiliser may increase the number of fruitbodies, whereas in isolation it tends to decrease fructification. Both affects are greater on acid soils.

Air pollution particularly affects the mycorrhizal fungi characteristic of older forest stands.
