Notes:
Fading leaves with large grey zonate leaf spots up to 20mm diam surrounded by a yellow zone with the central 10mm populated with abundant mainly epiphyllous black pycnidia, often leaving a white spot in the centre of the leaf spot.
Attached dead leaves with similar spots which are more obviously zonate.
Pycnidia: grey under microscope, 0.2-0.3mm diam. immersed, but bulging, with a small black ostiole. Conidia: hyaline, 3-5/1.3µm.
Pseudothecia: similar, containing unripe septate ascospores.
