Notes:

Leaf spots: above: pale brown with darker brown borders, concentrically zoned; below: pale brown, sometimes inflated but this might be secondary. Eventually splitting.

Pycnidia: only on one or two leaf spots, quite dense where they occur.

Conidia: hyaline, slightly curved, narrow, becoming centrally 1-septate, 10-21/1-1.3µm.

This ought to be Phyllosticta syringae but the conidia are too narrow and far too long. It’s probably a secondary infection. The pycnidia were densely crowded in a small area. Parts of some of the leaf spots had pits where pycnidia or perithecia had dropped out. These pits were more widely spaced than the present pycnidia. Need to revisit earlier in the season next summer.
