Note: insect caught in Surrey and put in a CD case (the only container to hand). We then loaded the car and drove back to Dorset with windows closed. Arrived home at dusk and immediately set up mothing sheet beside garage. Contents of car were transferred to garage. When I got down to the container, it was empty but a very similar insect appeared at the mothing sheet. I’ve not had any other ichneumons to light in the garden so far this year so believe this to be the same insect.
Wing length: 5.5mm
Jim Brock says there are very few spp of Lissonota that fly this early in the season and he doesn’t recognise it as a British species. It’s most likely an adventive.
