A common rust with pycnia and aecia in early Spring on various species of Ranunculus, the uredia and telia on grasses (Dactylis, Festuca, Poa).
Aecia and pycnia on Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria) can be distinguished from those of U. rumicis by the lack of refractive granules in the aeciospores.
Aecia and pycnia on Ranuculus acris are indistinguishable from those of Puccinia recondita f.sp. perplexans.
Aecia and pycnia on Ranunculus bulbosus and R. repens are indistinguishable from those of Puccinia magnusiana, although the latter doesn’t usually occur before midsummer.
